Although much of the original buildings of Chişinău were destroyed in the second world war and 1940 earthquake, the city still retains a pleasant charm and the many parks add to the sense of tranquility.
Botanical Park is the largest and most beautiful park in Chişinău. It also contains a rebuilt wooden church from the 1600s. Another park worth visiting, is Rose Valley, a nine hectare park with three large lakes.
Chişinău also has it’s version of France’s Arc de Triomphe built in 1841 on the Great National Assembly Square. There are also a number of interesting museums in the capital including the Pushkin Museum where Pushkin lived in exile from Russia.
The Opera and Ballet Theatre is home to one of the top ballet companies in Europe that has toured all over the world.
For nightlife there are numerous bars and clubs to keep you entertained until the early hours.
